Mimi Verderame Quartet
Of Italian origin, as of tender age he shows great interest in drums.
Already at age 6 he studies the basics and at age 9 has his first
appearance on stage, with the "les Rebelles Du Rhythme",
led by... his father.
At age 14 he enters the Liège music academy and at the same
time has his first experiences in the recording studios.
It is a year later that he discovers his other passion, the guitar,
which he learns to play while listening, for hours, to the great
names of jazz. This enabled hism to compose and make arrangements
for the Belgian radio and television for various singers and big
bands.
At age 17 he does his first steps in jazz with a great master -
sax player Jacques PELZER. Immediately Mimi VERDERAME distinguishes
himself a an outstanding and talented musicians.
His qualities put him in a central place within the jazz scene and
he finds himself playing with Steve HOUBEN, John RUOCCO, Toots THIELEMANS,
Larry SCHNEIDER, Eef ALBERS, Gino LATTUCA, Fabrice ALLEMAN, Nathalie
LORIERS, Philip CATHERINE, singer MAURANE, etc....
In 1996 he formed his own septet, the "JAZZ ADDICTION BAND".
In April '2000, the band releases its first album, "NICE CAP"
(LYRAE 200021-C).
JAZZ ADDICTION has also won the '99 Nicolas Dor Prize as the best
Belgian concert of the '99 edition of the Jazz à Liège
Festival, awarded by the PAB/BAP, the Belgian Artistic Promotion
of Sabam, the Belgian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers.
Mimi VERDERAME released another new CD in September '99. Titled
"Game Over", it was recorded with a quartet composed of
Eric LEGNINI (piano), Bart DE NOLF (bass) and Italian alto sax player
Rosario GIULIANI, who won the Europ' Jazz Contest in Hoeilaart.
Note that Mimi VERDERAME is also an excellent guitar player. He
can be heard a.o. on the "Hommage à René THOMAS"
CD and on his JAZZ ADDICTION BAND CD "Nice Cap".
Recently, Mimi played with the Philip CATHERINE Trio.
